Marjatta Metsovaara's "Bird Series", like Sieppo (Flycatcher), Tintti (Titmouse), and Satakieli (Nightingale) was designed to express vibrancy and movement of nature through a masterful rule of colors.

With the Sieppo throw, she aimed to achieve a blossoming effect where the majority of mohair creates a carded felt surface that reflects the light differently than traditional blankets. This allows the colors to blossom or glow, mimicking the iridescent quality of bird feathers. The design reflects the bird's quick, rhythmic repetition of the colored stripes.
