Raita means stripe in Finnish. Marjatta Metsovaara made this modern design in 1955 and is seen in a US product catalog from 1960. The fabric is now produced on slow-speed power looms with a distinctly hand-crafted appeal. At newly built state-of-the-art combing and spinning facilities, these natural fibers are transformed into unique variations of yarns. Woven in the original Raita pattern in new colors, the fabric is brushed to create a classic, fluffy form.
